Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) in Kids

Tarryn Poulton
Founder of Nurture ADHD and Occupational Therapist

Key Points About Our Chat
  • RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) is an intense, painful reaction to real or perceived rejection, criticism, or failure - and it's very common in children with ADHD

  • It's not "being dramatic" or oversensitive; it's a nervous-system response that can hijack a child's emotions in seconds, often over something that seems small to everyone else

  • It can look like explosive meltdowns, shutting down, people-pleasing, or avoiding anything they might fail at - and it usually leaves the child feeling deep shame afterwards

Featured Freebie

✨ RSD Quiz

  • A quick quiz to spot whether your child's big reactions might be RSD.

  • Ten simple statements, based on Dr William Dodson's work, that reveal the patterns in minutes.

  • A no-shame guide to what your answers mean and what your child needs next.

Meet Our Speaker

Jheri South is an ADHD Coach and Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) specialist who helps adults — especially women — finally understand how their brains are wired. Diagnosed with ADHD at 30 after decades of being called "too sensitive" and "too much," she trained directly under Dr. William Dodson, the psychiatrist who first defined RSD.

A mother of seven neurodivergent children, Jheri pairs clinical training with real lived experience. She created the WIRED Framework and the 12-week ADHD Reset Program, helping over 500 adults stop fighting their brains and start working with them. Her approach is RSD-first, shame-free, and deeply human — no masking, no performing, just strategies that actually fit how ADHD brains work.
